What Is A Plasma TV?

A plasma TV is a high definition (HDTV) is an alternative to the standard cathode ray televisions that we used in the past. A plasma television will give you an intense and crystal clear viewing experience with sharp images and vibrant colors, especially when combined with a high definition broadcast. 

Most plasma televisions are set up for a ratio of 16:9 (wide screen movie format), instead of the standard 4:3 of a standard television. However, the biggest downside to this type of television is the expense. These televisions start at roughly $2,000 and go up from there. One of the main selling points of this type of television is the flat screen and thin display, and this makes the unit easy to mount onto a wall without a lot of clearance or heavy weight. Other components of a plasma screen system usually include surround sound and other things that add to the viewing and entertainment experience. They really give the viewer a feeling of luxury and they have become quite the status symbol. 


In the plasma TV, the pixels are made from three small containers of an inert gas such as neon or xenon. These pixels are then sandwiched between two electrically charged plates, and there are hundreds of thousands of these pixels on the screen.
